A convention

My name is Rashid Darden and I like dreams.

Last night I dreamed I was at an Alpha convention with members of my current chapter. The General President or chairman of the convention (someone I didn’t recognize) was doing some sort of roll call and my chapter did not have all its materials, including copies of the constitution. The chapter president turns to me and asks if I will go retrieve the missing copies of the constitution from the other delgates.

I say “I absolutely will not.”

The chapter president is annoyed with me and the convention recesses. Whatever is going on, I am not pleased and I decide then and there that I am not with the shits anymore. I call my chapter brother and friend K as I’m walking back to my suite to tell him what happened.

My suite is nice. It reminds me of a college apartment. It’s split level and connected to the roof by the top floor. While I’m talking to K, I start seeing a whole bunch of men in various states of undress. Not so much nude, moreso men who are going to or coming from a work out.

I love this convention.

While I’m there, a housekeeper and two housekeeper trainees come into the room, interrupting my gawking at the men. The trainees are silly and the lead housekeeper is trying to get them to focus on being friendly. They are beautiful women. The leader is Black, the trainees are white and some sort of brown – maybe Latinx?

They are pretending to flirt with me and it’s hilarious. Others come into the room and it becomes a party. Kim Zolciak was there. A guy comes up the stairs behind us and leans over the ledge as though he is about to caress my arm, but he touches Kim instead. I point out that he was about to grab me and he insists that he wasn’t. I was like sir your hand was RIGHT THERE. He ignores me.

It was Kroy, but it wasn’t really Kroy. (Didn’t look like him but I knew it was him.)

Kim points out that Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold have joined the party. I was happy to see them, but I wanted to get back to the men I had been gawking at. The convention was now the furthest thing from my mind.

Then I woke up.

Happy new year!
